I wonder no more
Given the Obama administration's disgraceful diplomatic performance, especially with regard to Israel, I've been wondering
: are they really that tone-deaf? Are they that determined to drive away every single person that voted them in?
Two separate things point the way for me. First, this
JPost article in which Rahm Emmanuel cops the administration for bungling the message of support for Israel, while actually having the support in place.
(Man, I keep hearing that refrain. Sounds a lot like, "The American people aren't actually against this health care bill; we just haven't sold it well enough," or "The American people would support cap and trade if we delivered the message better." Never once is the consideration that they might be acting against the informed will of the people. No, it's always about how our betters have failed in their onerous burden of shedding the light of Truth into the caves where the troglodytes who oppose them shiver in terror, superstition, and darkness.)
Of course, that's the official line. I'm sure the next time an arab thugocracy decides to solve the Israel problem once and for all, the Obama administration will be there to sternly lecture Israel about its aggression.
Second, while
Digging, I found this
comment stream discussing Israel's refusal to allow Noam Chomsky into the country. Typical howls of outrage about the "Zionists" and their "faux democracy" abound. Here's an interesting thought experiment: imagine you're a shot-caller at the US State Department. A noted academic from another nation wants to visit. Problem is, he's noted for his intense anti-American rhetoric, fervent support of al-Qaeda, and has stated in confidence that he would lie to ensure the destruction of the United States. Do you admit him?)
That's when it hit me. The Obama administration knows two things: 1) they need to pacify pro-Israeli voters, who will more than likely fall spellbound again at the Lightworker's magnificence and swallow the lie whole, and 2) a sufficient number of his base is just as anti-Zionist as he is, and the more disdain he shows for Israel, the more leg tingles abound.
What a disgusting, loathsome thing progressivism has become. Glad I had the sense to jump off when I did.
